The Laser Urology Centre Arezzo Italy http://www.urologialaser.it/index_en.html
was born thanks to the experience of Doctor Stefano Mattioli, who was the italian urologist who first introduced the use of laser in urologic surgery rooms ever since 1984. Doctor Alessandro Picinotti is another promoter of the centre and the one who means to continue such procedures through divulgation and spreading of information about the use of laser in urology.
Doctor Ugo Doria and Doctor Monica Sbragi are part of the equipe as well, both of them own experience in surgery and in medical clinic. The medical staff at the centre can offer qualified information as to the most modern tecniques concerning the use of laser in urologic surgery rooms, since the medicians operate in more than one health care facility and have been gaining, over the years, knowledge and practice of the lasers on the market at present: Tullio Laser, KTP Laser and Holmium Laser.
Since 2000 the use of Holmium-Yag Laser spreads over, it can be considered the initiator of a modern era because it is still employed in urologic surgery rooms and it was the beginning of the collaboration of Doc. Mattioli and Doc. Picinotti.
In July 2002, Doc. Mattioli shows for the first time another innovative laser, especially for the treatment of prostatic hypertrophy: it was KTP Green-Light Niagara (Corriere Salute 22/10/2002) and, learning the tecnique from his Master, Doc. Picinotti uses it for the second time ever in Italy and today it is still used in some centres in Italy, including ours. The introduction of Thulium Laser, in 2004, was another foundamental stage. Once again employed for the first time in Italy by Doc. Mattioli, it combines in one instrument the features of the two previous models, with greater precision and even less side effects (which were, in any way, very scanty).
In December 2006, the friendship and professional relation which link Doc. Mattioli and Doc. Picinotti, bring to the birth of the Laser Urology Centre.

As the tumor grows, it becomes large enough to compress urethra making it difficult to urinate. Local tumor can grow upward invading the bladder and some investicals or it can grow towards back invading the rectum. The prostate tumor may also break out either side of the prostate through the capsule that surrounds it and spread into the normal tissue nearby. The second way the cancer can spread is by sending ulcers to the lymphatic systems. The lymphatic systems consist of tinny vessels smaller than blood vessels that run through tinny little organs called as lymph nodes. These lymph nodes act as filtering devices that helps our body fight infections. When a person has cancer, the cells can enter the lymph nodes and spread via the limp system to other parts of the body. The third and most dangerous way the cancer can spread is by sending out cancerous cell in the blood supplies. These cells can go anywhere the blood supply goes. They prefer to go first to the bones and thats why bone scan is done to see if there are any cancer cells showing up there. In the later stage of the disease the prostate cancer cell can spread to any part of the body lungs, liver, skin and brain.
