Sudafed use by men with an enlarged prostate?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: BPH treatment

The standard warnings say that men with an enlarged prostate should use "caution" in taking Sudafed. But the warnings don’t say why or list what the prostate-related side effects are. Is BPH a potentially a side effect of Sudafed, and/or does Sudafed make BPH worse? Or is it a drug interaction with the BPH Treatment?

BTW, yes I originally posted this in "Men’s Health" but that appears to be the domain of 15 year old teenagers…

Sudafed is known to make urination harder for men who have a pre-existing prostate enlargement. It makes it more difficult to start the stream itself and it slows down the emptying of the bladder.

It does not cause BPH, nor does it make the condition worse once the medication is stopped.

BTW.. I know what you mean about the young kids. It’s hard to get a correct answer entered before about 10 people get in ahead of you with incorrect or silly information. Good luck. Email me if you need anything else.
