My neutered 8 year old mix breed dog has a enlarged prostate. What can I do?
He also has some crystals in his urine. He went on anti-biotics and ant-infamatory med today. How can I help him. I live in Panama and the vet said no surgery is available. Again he is neutered. The vet said his prostate should be the size of a grape and it is the size of a plum. He weighs 15 lbs.
See if the meds help. If not you may have to end his suffering for him, humanly.

The instrument is called as endoscope which has a camera attached to its tip which is then attached to a monitor. what are some foods that are good for an enlarged prostate?
Can a 20 year old man have an enlarged prostate?
I pee 8-12 times a day or more. The streams aren’t weak, but I do get sudden urges to go. I have never peed my pants or even come close. Plus some times I feel like I need to go, but nothing wil happen.
Any doctors in the house?
I am not a doctor, but i did work for one for 11 years. It is possible for a 20 yr old to have an enlarged prostate, but not all that common. You are having symptoms that could be related to other problems, such as bladder infection, urinary tract infection, etc. Some STDs have these symptoms as well. It is important to drink plenty of water and decrease your caffeine and alcohol intake (if any). Also get to the doctor and at least have a urinalysis done to check for infections. If that is negative then prostate exam, blood work and maybe a sonogram for more detailed analysis. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon!
how do you treat an enlarged prostate in a doberman pincher?
He was taking Baytril 136mg and Deramaxx 100mg which appeared to help, but at times he still stands wide-legged. He is not spayed.
for males is NEUTERING!
NO HOME REMEDIES WILL WORK FOR SUCH SERIOUS CASE! TAKE HIM TO THE VET!!!
Dont have the money??…borrow it, sell something or apply in carecredit.com and see what vets accept it.
And please learn a lesson and neuter your dog. Neutering him could have prevented this!
Humane society does it for about $60 bucks for god’s sake. It starts at $60, it goes up depending on the weight.
Males-neutering
* Risk of testicular cancer is eliminated and decreases chance of prostate disease
* Decreases aggressive behavior, including dog bites
* Reduces or eliminates risk of spraying and marking
* Less desire to roam and therefore less likely to be injured in fights or auto accidents
* Reduces the number of unwanted dogs and cats
* Helps the animal live a longer and healthier life
Females-spaying
* Helps the animal live longer and healthier life
* Risk of cancers-mammary gland tumors, ovarian and uterine cancer is greatly reduced
* Reduces the number of unwanted dogs and cats
* No heat cycles so males will not be attracted
* Less of a desire to roam
are there any natural ways to heal and enlarged prostate?
I take a bowel movement daily. I do however wake up every night two times and have to push the urine out of me.
Gee, you have a girl for an avatar and your alias is lovemuffins but you ask about your prostate, LOL. Anyway, a lot of clinical studies have shown that saw palmetto extract, 160 mg twice a day (at least 80% fatty acids), helps a lot with shrinking an enlarged prostate, and is extremely safe. I strongly recommend it since I have seen a lot of patients helped by it.
How do I find a good Urologist who can perform outpatient surgery on my enlarged prostate?
How can you make yourself pee with an enlarged prostate?
My husband has this issue a few times a year. Is there anything he can do to make his pee come out? He says he feels he needs to pee and just can’t he has tried to pee for the last 3 hours. Is there anything he can do for immediate relief?
Thank you all for all your help he did finally pee and the doc called him in flomax and cipro you all were very helpful! Thanks!
He should see a doctor. There are medications like hytrin that make urination easier by relaxing muscles, or ones that directly reduce the enlargement.
If he cannot urinate at all, it’s a medical emergency and he should get to a doctor right away for catheterization (a thin tube inserted into the bladder–sounds terrible but it provides instant relief).
He can also have minor surgery to fix the enlargement more or less permanently. The procedure is called a TUR. When you read about it, it sounds awful but of course the patient is anesthetized.
There’s no reason for a man to continue to suffer from the effects of an enlarged prostate these days.
