Does lower limb paralysis cause urethral obstruction?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Enlarged Prostate Treatment

my Rt leg is paralysed due to polio, right from my childhood, when I was 3 years old. uroflowmetry tests says my urine flow rate is below normal. ultrasound says my prostate is enlarged. PSA test is negative. Since my Rt leg is 2-3 inches shorter, why lower urine flow rate could not be taken as a consequence of my postural deformity? Why Doctor says it is due to enlarged prostate. If it is so, please tell how safe is endoscopic surgury ? What will be the possible post operation consequences related to my other body functions. Is there any herbal or Ayurvedic treatment for such urethral obstuctions? Thanks

An enlarged prostate will cause reduced urinary flow. Negative PSA means that it probly isn’t cancerous. Short leg will cause spinal instability and possible neurological effects on the bladder. Endoscopic surgery is relatively safe. Keep drinking plenty of water to keep urinary tract clear.

Hello. the enlarged prostate is putting pressure on your urinary bladder and the neck of the bladder which interrupts urinary flow. Most enlarged prostates are not cancerous and the PSA test being negative or having a normal level is good news. Polio has nothing to do with your urethral problems. The general surgery that may have to be done is a TURP. This is a Trans-urethral Resection of the Prostate. Up to 90% of the men that do require the surgery end up with impotence (the inability to get an erection of the penis for sexual activity).I do not believe that Viagra could help with this type of erectile dysfunction. Please write down all your questions for your doctor and write down the answers so that you don’t forget the information you need. Some people have found relief with the herb Saw Palmetto. Some men do not get relief. I hope you get the help you need. A diuretic only produces more urine but doesn’t help the obstruction.Ask your doctor if there is a medication that can help shrink the enlarged prostate. There may be a new alternative on the scene. Get better and if you need the TURP, remember it is major surgery and carries all the risks associated with surgery such as infection, hemorrhage, and even death. Write down all your questions before seeing your doctor again. You are in my thoughts
