I have patients that do this. It wouldn't work quite as well with Avodart for 2 reasons: 1. Avodart is a different drug and may not promote hair growth 2. However, Avodart is in a gel capsule and cannot be cut into smaller doses and Proscar tablets are quite small already and the finasteride may not be evenly dispersed within the tablet leaving some parts of a broken tablet with most of the medication and some with almost none. As long as the doc writes the script for you, I dont see why thats illegal. If your asking what I think you are, its kind of like getting Wellbutrin to help you quit smoking instead of Zyban.
