Besides Cancer, What Are The Causes of an Enlarged Prostate?

Hello Everyone,
If your doctor has determined that you do NOT have prostate cancer, but have a large prostate, what causes this to happen in the first place? I am aware that frequent urination is a main sign of an enlarged prostate, but what causes the prostate to grow in the first place?

It’s calle BPH….benign prostate hyperplasia (maybe hypo plasia) can’t remember…
It’s caused by old age.
