help with reducing an enlarged prostate?

i’m looking for natural ways to reduce this problem. diet, exercise, whatever tips, whatever helps. i’m not really looking for website information; i’m looking for what has worked for you or someone you know.

also, is it a fact once enlarged the prostate can be reduced in size or not? if so how besides surgery? diet improvements? exercise? losing weight? please help.

Saw palmetto is the place to start. Saw palmetto is an herb with a long history of diminishing inflammation and enlargement of the prostate as well as inhibiting the hormones which causes prostate enlargement.

Another herb called "Pygeum africanum", comes from an African tree and has also been shown in research to reduce enlargement of the prostate as well as inflammation.

Zinc deficiency has been proven to result in prostate enlargement. Infection and other stress results in lower blood serum zinc levels in general and in particular lower prostate levels. In prostatitis – infection of the prostate – zinc levels are only 1/10 of those in a normal prostate.
A daily zinc supplement totaling 50 to 100 milligrams is frequently recommended to help shrink an enlarged prostate.

As with anything else, you must be under the care of an ND [doctor of naturopathy] who will prescribe the proper herbs and amounts and make sure that there are no interactions with anything else that you are taking.

Kegel exercises have proven helpful — Kegel exercises are done by tightening all the muscles around the scrotum and anus. Repeat this tightening of the muscles 10 times. Try doing this “invisible” exercise 4-5 times daily, while driving, reading, etc.

And last but certainly not least, eat tomatoes. A Harvard study of 47,000 men in 2003 found that men who ate 10 servings per week of tomatoes cut their risk of developing aggressive prostate cancer by 50%. Researchers believe this decrease in cancer risk is due to the lycopene in the tomatoes – the pigment that gives tomatoes their red color. We now know that lycopene is the most powerful carotene discovered yet, with 10 times more antioxidant power than beta carotene.

Saw palmetto is good for slowing a growing prostate. But, once it is enlarged, you are stuck with it unless you get surgery. I have not come across anything that works to shrink it. The prostate grows naturally over your lifespan. For some guys, it grows very fast.
